About The Class
The Advanced Obedience Course is the pinnacle of our training awards, designed to further challenge and refine the skills of both dog and handler. This course builds upon the Gold award, introducing complex exercises that test the highest levels of obedience and control. The course includes:
Â
Heel Free at Normal Pace (With Sit and Down Positions)
The dog will walk at heel off-lead, maintaining a close position to the handler's leg. The dog will be required to perform sit and down commands while walking. The handler must not touch or lure the dog.
Â
Recall in Straight Line to Heel (From Sit or Down Position)
The dog will be recalled from a sit or down position while the handler walks away. Both will continue forward together until commanded to halt.
Â
Recall and Finish (From Sit or Down Position)
The dog will be recalled from a sit or down position to the handler, sit in front, and then go to heel, following the judge's commands.
Â
Send Away, Drop & Recall
The dog will be sent to a designated spot, dropped, and then recalled to heel while the handler walks. There should be no obstacles in the dog's path.
Â
Retrieve Handler’s Article and Finish
The dog will retrieve an article thrown by the handler, return it, and sit in front. Upon command, the dog will then move to heel.
Â
Handler’s Scent on Cloth
The dog will find a cloth marked with the handler’s scent from a set of six cloths. The dog must locate the correct cloth within three minutes and return it to the handler.
Â
Stays
Two stay exercises will be performed:
Â
Sit Stay in Sight (2 Minutes): The dog must remain in a sit position.
Â
Down Stay Out of Sight (3 Minutes): The dog must remain in a down position, allowing minor positional changes but not getting up.
Â
Distance Control (Down Only)
The dog, starting in a sit position, must move into a down position from a distance of 10 to 20 paces on command.
