About The Class

This Puppy Obedience Course lays the foundation for early learning and assists new puppy owners in understanding basic training techniques. Enrolment can take place as soon as your puppy has completed their vaccinations and up to 12 months of age. The course is assessed by the class trainer and includes the following exercises:

1. Attentive Response to Name: Your puppy should respond to its name when called.
2. Play with the Puppy: Demonstrate controlled play with your puppy.
3. Socialisation: Introduction to a placid dog and an adult person unknown to the puppy.
4. Noise Distraction: Exposure to normal day-to-day sounds.
5. Handling and Inspection: Preparation for grooming, allowing handling of the body.
6. Puppy Recall: Recall your puppy in an enclosed area.
7. Basic Puppy Positions: Teach your puppy to stand, sit, and lie down.
8. Walking in a Controlled Manner: Walk with your puppy on a lead without distractions.
9. Stay for Approximately Ten Seconds: Teach your puppy to stay in any position for 10 seconds.
10. Take Article Away from the Puppy: Your puppy should give up an article when required.
11. Food Manners: Teach your puppy to take treats in a controlled manner.

Dogs and owners of any fitness level or disability can take part. The course is non-competitive, and emphasis is placed on the standard of achievement. However, we regret that the insurance policy of this club does not permit XL Bully Type, Cane Corso Type, American Bulldog Type, or any breed banned in the United Kingdom to attend this training course.

Prices

The Dog Training Club Members: £55

Non-Members: £80 (Includes 1 Years Membership)

On Completion

Upon completing this course, you will be awarded an official certificate and medal issued by The Dog Training Club - The National Dog Training Scheme. You may also progress to the Bronze Obedience Course.

Bookings

All bookings must be made online in advance. No bookings can be made or accepted on the night of the class.
